Australian Rules Football, also known as “Aussie Rules” or “Footy”, is a physical sport played as both non-contact and full-contact. It is not rugby, soccer or any other sport. It is unique to Australia and its roots are traceable back to early forms of rugby and Gaelic football. The Sacramento Footy Club is relatively new with 2009 being our inaugural season. In only a few months our numbers have grown impressively as well the skill level of all our players. If you're interested in learning more about Australian Rules Football, why not send us an email?

Tuesday, July 27, 2010 - The 2010 Sac Footy Summer League Premiership team is
Kungfooty!
The Grand final played between the Sinners and Kungfooty was a very tense affair. Kungfooty came out strong in the first half and played some great footy, going into half time with a lead of 17 points.
In the second half The Sinners fought back hard with a highlight being Yani Castillo kicking 2 super goals! The game came right down to the wire and in the last minute Saleh Tyebjee had a difficult shot at goal that could have won the game for the Sinners. The whole world seemed to stop as the ball sailed through the air toward the goal. Unfortunately for the Sinners it was called a behind and Kungfooty won by one solitary point.
Saturday, July 24, 2010 - On a cool, windy day in Daly City San Diego won the toss and decided to kick against the breeze. This paid dividends for them almost immediately with the Lions kicking two quick goals via John Jones and Justin Valley to establish an early lead. However the Roos eventually settled with the midfield of Mark Beare, Revo Under 23 players Kyle Johnson and Matt Lege, Captain Andrew Lamont, Coach Matt Bishop, Brian Lewis and Revolution player Mel Chen starting to find the ball....

Tuesday, July 20, 2010 - We now have our finalists! The undefeated Sinners and Kungfooty! The Reds will be playing The Screamers at 6:30pm next week for 3rd and 4th place and the Grand Final will take place at 7:30pm.
The first game this week was between the Sinners and the Reds who were looking for their first win of the season. The Reds have been improving every week and this showed in a high scoring game with the Sinners eventually winning by 15 points. 21 goals were kicked in this game including 5 Super Goals.
The Screamers had a chance at making the final and had to beat Kungfooty by 55 points. They could not pull this off however and Kungfooty won the game by 19 points.
Tuesday, July 13, 2010 - We are nearing the end of the season and still attracting new players!
The Reds battled the Screamers in the first game and had a record 18 players to choose from, including 6 new players. Having this many players is very positive but also made it a challenge for the team captains to organize the team and make sure people received adequate playing time. The Screamers came out with all guns blazing and jumped to a 34 point lead at half time and eventually won by 62 points. This big win helps to keep the Screamers in contention to make the Grand Final in 2 weeks time.
The second game between the Sinners and Kungfooty could possibly have been a preview of the Grand Final and proved to be a close battle. The Sinners lead by 12 points at half time and Kungfooty were able to reduce that lead to 8 points by the end of the game.
Tuesday, July 7, 2010 - This week it seemed a lot of players were still recovering from their long weekend.. a few teams were short players and with the help of fellow Sac Footy mates were able to fill the gaps.
The first game was between the underwomanned Reds & The Sinners. With a couple of loaners, the Reds put up a good fight, but were no match for the Sinners, who managed to kick 3 Super Goals this week to add to their total.
The second game was between the Screamers and the undermanned Kungfooty. With help from a couple of Sinners and a few family ring-ins, Kungfooty were too strong for the Screamers.
"A year and a half ago, when Matt and Amy Bishop came to Sacramento, they brought co-ed footy with them and started a league that now includes 80 players who practice Tuesday and Thursday evenings in McKinley Park...
